Description

A hearty and comforting casserole made with layers of ground beef, potatoes, and cheese, perfect for a family dinner.


Ingredients

  • 1 lb ground beef
  • 4 medium potatoes, thinly sliced
  • 1 onion, chopped
  • 2 cups shredded cheese (cheddar or your choice)
  • 1 can cream of mushroom soup
  • 1 cup milk
  • Salt and pepper to taste
  • 1 tablespoon olive oil

Instructions

  1. Preheat the oven to 350°F (175°C).
  2. In a skillet, heat olive oil over medium heat and sauté the chopped onion until translucent.
  3. Add the ground beef to the skillet and cook until browned. Season with salt and pepper.
  4. In a large baking dish, layer half of the sliced potatoes at the bottom.
  5. Spread half of the cooked ground beef mixture over the potatoes.
  6. Pour half of the cream of mushroom soup mixed with milk over the beef.
  7. Sprinkle half of the shredded cheese on top.
  8. Repeat the layers with the remaining potatoes, beef, soup mixture, and cheese.
  9. Cover the baking dish with aluminum foil and bake for 1 hour.
  10. Remove the foil and bake for an additional 15-20 minutes until the cheese is bubbly and golden.

Notes

  • For added flavor, you can include garlic or other spices.
  • Feel free to substitute ground beef with ground turkey for a leaner option.
  • This casserole can be prepared ahead of time and stored in the refrigerator before baking.
